Upon recovering from a life changing injury to my lower back I decided to study Osteopathy at Oxford School Of Osteopathy as it was only osteopathy that had been able to see me through some really dark days. I graduated in 1993 and have been in private practice ever since. The training in osteopathy not only gave me a vocation, it also stimulated a dormant desire and thirst for more knowledge in the medical field. I had been a professional footballer in my teens and suffered illness after illness and had never gotten any answers from mainstream medicine. But that was about to change.

In the late nineties I had my first taste of functional medicine from a brilliant man called Jeffrey Bland Phd who was later to become known as the father of functional medicine. Dr Bland went on to teach thousands of doctors from all over the world and establish The Institute Of Functional Medicine in the USA.  The doctors that he taught were mostly medical doctors who had become largely disillusioned by the drug based approach to chronic disease.
